Private vs Public

Thursday, January 31st, 2008

Whenever I sign up to social sites, I always go for private settings because I post pictures of myself, my friends, and my relatives on them and I don’t want to risk some sick people getting the wrong idea. Crazy intranetters steal pictures and we all know that. I don’t want strangers steal my pictures and use them as their identity. Yeah, I post my photos here on my blog but they are all rated GP. lol. Have you ever seen a naked pic here? hah.

This is Internet. Scary. I know it’s crazy but it’s true.

I can understand why some people choose for their accounts to be public though. These people don’t mind at all getting messages from strangers because they love meeting new people. It is just something they’ve chosen for their own. Or maybe they just don’t know how to set it in private. lol.

I found a new site. You get to create a Free Blog. When you sign up and set your profile to private, you get to see this message in red: This profile is private. You cannot view it. It’s perfect for me who loves to be viewed only by my friends or family. Even the mugshot or avatar was hidden unlike the others. It’s not just a free blog but also you could upload your photos, videos and podcasts as well.

thedoorlight.net
the last layout I made, which includes hard coding and that was in 2005.

I’m planning to get my own domain name again. After I shutdown my ever first one located at thedoorlight.net, which lasted for just a year, I did not have any desires to get a new one or continue paying for the name and space. I discontinued my domain because I felt like I was wasting money. I wish there was WordPress already that time, maybe my blogging time could had been easier. Also, I think I need a new name on the Intranets, like, Droolight? lol.

My friend Dre is running a contest at the moment: Free Domain Name & Blog Hosting. It’s tempting, you know. It’s tempting but probably I’m going to pass. Anyway, I’m just letting you know, in case, some bloggers are interested to join. I think the deadline is on the 31st but I’m unsure about that because she just changed the rules. Just check out the link.

Verified User

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

I spent my time reading too much of EON Card horror stories and realized that I was just scaring myself. Boo.

Anyway, I’m excited to let my visitors know that I’m officially a verified Pay Pal user since yesterday. Thank you, EON Card. I was too excited that I asked my friend Sarah to try my account out by sending me some monies. She run a contest last year, which I won but because I live in this third world country and did not have Pay Pal, I can’t ask her to send my prize yet. So I told her about my exciting story and asked again if she’s still going to send my prize. I read her reply and she said she already sent out the money. I checked my balance and it’s there already. harhar.

For those Filipinos who still don’t have their pay pal account verified yet, this entry is for you. This is my version of the step-by-step procedure, all right?

  1. Get Unionbank’s EON Card Cyber Account. Get this debit card either by signing up online through their official website or go to the nearest branch.
  2. After five working days, you have to call the branch where you applied in. It’s very important to call them because I did not. lol. You will end up waiting and waiting. I was dumb that I thought they’re going to call me. Yeah, call them and ask them if your EON card is ready to pick up.
  3. When you are ready to pick up your EON card, go to the branch, go to their New Accounts or ask the security guard where you could claim your EON card. Present your two valid IDs and Php350.00 for the card’s annual fee. Also, it’s very important again to deposit at least Php150.00 in your EON card, especially if you are going to apply for Pay Pal.
  4. Wait for three days for your EON card to be activated. You may call the branch or call their hotline to confirm.
  5. If your EON card is activated already, go to Unionbank website and enroll for a eon cyber account. Be ready with your card and account number and pin. Also, think of your user ID, this user ID will be your new username next time you log in to access your accounts online. Wait for three to five days to be activated. Again, call their hotline to confirm.
  6. When everything is activated, you may enroll in Pay Pal. They are going to charge you 1.95 USD and wait three to five working days to get your Expanded Use Number from Unionbank. In my case, I sent a message to EON Services (you may send messages through your account online) and asking for my Expanded Use Number. I just waited for a couple of days only, I checked my account online through Unionbank’s website and saw a response.
  7. Copy and paste the 4-digit Expanded Use Number in your Pay Pal account and you are done. Verified!

Important: Deposit at least Php150.00 in your EON card and your EON card should be activated. If you failed to do this, your EON card will be denied by Pay Pal.

Okay. Do you love me now?

My E-ON Card

Eon Card from Unionbank

I, finally, got my E-ON Cyber Account Card at Unionbank. I applied because I can use it with P4ypal. For the card’s annual fee, I paid Php350, and deposited Php150, just like my friend Pao’s tip, the card needs to have at least Php150 to have the debit card be enrolled at P4yPal’s. Be sure you have at least two valid IDs when you claim it.

You may apply either through their website by simply filling up the application form, or if you are not that lazy, you may go to any Unionbank’s branch. I applied online, btw, if you are interested to know.

The server keeps on denying the word P a y p a l. lol.
