It was a very emotional weekend! Uncle passed away last week and yesterday morning we attended his burial. My uncle was a member of the military, 2nd lieutenant, and it was my first time to witness a gun shot salute, it was freaking awesome. My sister videotaped the whole thing, I wish I could share it with you but it’s a family thing.
Anyway, I still feel tired because I did not have enough sleep because I attended the wake, it is a vigil, which is held over a corpse the night before the burial. The military was also there to watch and guard.
When someone dies, it’s not always about being sad because you cannot be with the person anymore, but it also makes the family closer.

I had an uncle whose ashes where entombed at a veteran’s cemetery several years after his passing. I get what you mean about the salute being awesome.
