I remember someone saying that wearing pearls is bad luck on your wedding day (for the bride). I remember one of my friends saying that wearing pearls will make you cry.
Have you ever heard of these?
I think that a lot of brides do wear Akoya pearls on their wedding day though.
Anyway, I am a solid believer that the groom must not see the bride until the day of the wedding. I believe it makes it even more special to be at the altar and then see your lovely bride as she enters the church.
